The Off-Campus Drive Checklist for 2026 Graduates

Off-campus hiring moves fast. Application windows are often open for 72 hours or less, assessments are scheduled within days, and a single missed email can cost you the opportunity. This checklist keeps you ahead of it.
4–6 weeks before you start applying
- Get one resume to a clean, one-page, ATS-readable state. No tables, no columns, no photo.
- Pick one language to be interview-ready in (Java, Python, or C++) and start a daily DSA habit — 45 minutes, not a weekend cram.
- Build or finish two deployed projects you can talk about for ten minutes each. Tutorials you followed along with do not count.
The application week
- Apply within the first 24 hours of a drive opening. Later applicants are often filtered out before review.
- Use the exact email address you will check daily. Add the company domain to your contacts so assessment invites don't land in spam.
- Read the eligibility criteria twice — batch year, branch, and CGPA cutoffs are strict and non-negotiable.
Assessment rounds
- Most first rounds are timed DSA (2–3 problems, 60–90 minutes) plus MCQs on DBMS, OS, and networks.
- Practice in the actual environment where possible — HackerRank and CodeSignal behave differently from LeetCode.
- If a problem is not solving in 20 minutes, move on and come back. Partial correctness on two problems usually beats a full solve on one.
After the assessment
- Reply to interview scheduling emails within a few hours. Slots fill on a first-come basis.
- Prepare a 90-second "walk me through your project" answer and rehearse it out loud.
- Have two questions ready for the interviewer about the team and the tech stack.
